David Thompson Secondary opened in 1958 and the school was named after the geographer, explorer and surveyor of the same name. One of the primary objectives of this school is to encourage students to reach their full potential be it in the filed of arts, science, music and the like. There are three goals that David Thompson embraces as these are to foster critical thinking and student engagement, increase literacy and increase acceptance, empathy, awareness and knowledge. It also promotes appreciation of Aboriginal traditions, histories, contributions and cultures. 

 

Lord Byng

Lord Byng Secondary School was built in 1925 and it was named in Julian Hedworth George Byng's honor. It is known for its Byng Arts Mini School program and it offers a wide range of music and sports programs. Chris Haddock, a screenwriter best known for Da Vinci's Inquest and MacGyver and Stan Douglas, and installation are some of the best examples of how the school helps shape students. 

 

Magee

Although Magee Secondary was founded in 1912, it was rebuilt in 2000. Eric Hamber

Eric Hamber Secondary has a total of 1,700 students. One of the things that makes this school one of the best public schools is Vancouver is that 70% of their senior class graduate with flying colors. Since they opened in 1962, the school has undergone multiple renovations and has not been approved for redevelopment. It will also undergo construction of its newly approved structure amounting to 80 million in 2022. The building was constructed following the LEED gold standards and it includes a child-care facility. It also has a strong academic program that includes programs designed for gifted students. Aside from these programs, Eric Hamber also offers the largest high school fashion design program.
